2012-2013 Openings
We are now enrolling for for 2012-2013. For more information or to schedule a center tour, please contact Lisa Litcoff, Executive Director at 617-332-8305 or lisa@riverisdechildrenscenter.net
Admissions and Enrollment
The Riverside Children’s Center is open to all children from 3 months through 5 years old. To apply, every new family must schedule an appointment for a tour with a member of our Administrative Team and complete an application for admission. In addition, new children of RCC families (categories 2 and 3, below) applying for admission must submit an application for admission.
Children are admitted to the Center based upon available space. Priority of enrollment is determined on a first-come, first-served basis, using a family’s application date, in accordance with the priorities set forth below.
Enrollment priority will be given (in order) to the following categories of applicants:
1. Currently enrolled children and children of staff members
2. Siblings of currently enrolled children and new children of staff members
3. Alumni
4. Other applicants
Each fall currently enrolled families are given priority to pre-enroll their child for the following year. Decisions for admission are made by the Executive Director, in accordance with the policies outlined above. After in-house families are pre-enrolled, wait listed families are then offered the opportunity to pre-enroll, with a $100 processing fee. Contracts are issued in January of each year, for admission the following September. A signed contract accompanied by a $500 last month’s tuition deposit (non-refundable), when accepted by Riverside, secures a child’s enrollment. Openings that occur during the year are filled from the waiting list in accordance with the priorities outlined above.
Riverside Children’s Center does not discriminate in providing service to children and families, or in its employment practices, on the basis of race, religion, cultural heritage, national origin, sexual orientation, political beliefs, gender, sex, age or marital status.
Tuition
Tuition is due by the first day of each month, in advance of childcare use. Tuition must be paid in full, even when a child is absent for illness or vacation or when the center is closed for holidays, snow days, staff work week, or other closures caused by events beyond the reasonable control of Riverside Children’s Center.

Hours of Operation
Riverside Children’s Center is open year round from 7:30 am ~ 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The center closes for 13 holidays; one staff professional day; and for “Work Week”, the week prior to Labor Day. The RCC Board of Directors reserves the right to alter the closing schedule. The Center makes every effort to open on snowy days. In the case of extreme inclement weather, the Center follows the Newton Public School closings and delayed openings.
Diapers and Toilet Training
Riverside provides disposable diapers and wipes for children in the Nursery, Rainbow, and Turtle Rooms. Parents must provide any diapering ointments that their child may need. If a child has a medical reason that does not permit the use of disposable diapers, parents must present a letter from the child’s health provider documenting the medical reason.
Lunch and Snacks
The Center provides a nutritious mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack, as well as milk with snack and lunch. The Center does not provide lunch; parents are responsible for packing a nutritious lunch for their child each day.
